The federal government has announced $104 million The federal government has announced $104 million in domestic violence funding that will focus on technology programs over the next five years

This will include checking a person's phone and computer to see if any GPS tracking programs or bugs have been installed, as well as searching for cameras hidden in toys, vents or lights in homes

〰️ Currently, de facto couples in Western Aust 〰️ Currently, de facto couples in Western Australia are not subject to the superannuation splitting laws which allow superannuation to be divided when a relationship breaks down

〰️ In December 2020, the Australian Parliament passed a law to extend superannuation splitting to include de facto couples in WA, however, the Act is yet to commence

〰️ The WA Government has to introduce legislation to support this reform. In the meantime, it is recommended that de facto couples consult with a Family Law professional as to how best divide assets between parties

Roma joins the Baily Family Law team in 2022 as Se Roma joins the Baily Family Law team in 2022 as Senior Legal Assistant, following a 33-year tenure at one of Western Australia’s largest independent full-service law firms.

Roma’s legal experience spans across a variety of sectors including Property, and Wills and Estates. Most recently, Roma has worked exclusively in Family Law in a Senior Secretarial role. 

She enjoys baking, knitting, reading, and crocheting, as well as spending time with her two daughters and four grandchildren.
